"Four Steps to Making Money Fast on the Internet"

As the new internet marketer gains knowledge and experience of making money online, he or she will discover ‘Four Steps’ that apply to almost all successful business operating methods.  And those Four Steps are what I want to talk to you about today.

What I discovered was that virtually all methods of making money online, as well as off the Internet, follow this basic four step method for success:

1.  Find a market comprising people with a problem or need.

2.  Find a product to solve the problem or satisfy the need.

3.  Design a contact point, let us call it a ‘landing page’, where potential customers congregate and which directs them to buy your recommended product right away, or which gets them to sign up to your mailing list for more information about the product and to read about other products you recommend later.

4.  Drive traffic - namely people with a problem or need - to your contact point or landing page.

We’ll look at the first step in the process today, namely finding people to target with whatever product or service you’re promoting.  This is your market and you market is the first step in the process of making money online.

Your market should comprise people who have money to spend, and who are also willing to spend that money to solve their problem or satisfy their need.  This is your ‘hungry crowd’ and, the bigger their problem, the hungrier your prospects are, the better your chances of making money online.

That hungry crowd is actually very easy to find, and there are many ways to find it, and many thousands or even millions of similarly profitable hungry crowds waiting to be found.

You may discover your hungry market, for example, in a television programme telling how millions of people are feeding their pet dogs too many foods containing chemical flavourings that can cause organ damage and cut their pets’ life expectancy.

You may not know it yet but there’s a great book at ClickBank that tells all about creating your own natural foods that help keep dogs fit and healthy well into old age.

Or perhaps you discover your hungry market in a newspaper article focussing on the fact that tens of thousands of single women are worried about first dates and they fear they’ll dry up and run out of conversation.  The article suggests a few conversational opening lines to help solve the women’s plight, but those few lines are insufficient to maintain conversation over a full evening.  You go look for a suitable title and if you don’t find one, you might consider creating your own product about maintaining an evening of scintillating conversation on a first date.

Let me give you a few more examples of how to find your own hungry markets to help you begin making money online:

*  Go pay a visit to your local newsagents where you’ll find hundreds of publications on the shelves, both newspapers and magazines.  Some of those publications target the reading public at large, giving information to interest most people, such as the news, travel, saving money, cooking, craftwork, motoring, and so on.   Because they potentially interest most adults, these publications might conveniently be termed ‘mass market’.

Sometimes looking at a few of those mass market publications will reveal a common problem or passion spread across several different magazines and newspaper titles, and indicating a market that’s red hot and ripe for you to target.

Alongside mass market publications you’ll find others catering to a much smaller proportion of the reading public whose interests and passions are not shared by the majority of people.  Good examples are: collecting coins, travelling the world in a camper van, running an eBay business, breeding pigs, and millions of other subjects.  These publications, reaching just a small proportion of the world at large, and targeting people with a shared and sometimes all-consuming passion, are called ‘niche market’ publications.

I want to emphasise that niche markets are probably the easiest to make money from, because even a basic study of niche market magazines will almost always help you spot problems affecting the entire readership.

That’s because, when you study a niche publication you’ll find readers asking the same questions, you’ll also find regular articles covering the same or similar subjects, all of which indicate a problem or need shared by most readers of your niche publication.

And sometimes you’ll find no one currently promoting products or services to solve readers’ problems or satisfy common needs, and that makes virtually each and every niche publication a source of some gap in the market for you to fill!

The big benefit of niche publications is that almost one hundred per cent of readers might be interested in your advertisement, compared to mass market publications where only a tiny proportion of readers may ultimately send money to you.

As an example, let’s say I find an Internet hosting company willing to pay me $100 for every new customer I send their way, and another company offering $50 for every person I get to sign up for a free sample of a new weight loss product.

Now let’s say I advertise those products to the 30,000 or so people reading my local daily newspaper (mass market); how many people do you think might sign up for my hosting package or free diet pills?  I’m willing to bet just a few people will accept my offers, maybe no one at all!

But if I offer those items respectively in magazines targeted at online business owners and people wanting to diet (niche markets), how many take ups might I get now?  I reckon I’d easily get hundreds or thousands of money making customers, depending on the size of my target niche magazine.
